StarFest®2018 wants to get you on the track! The track event is designed to accommodate all types of cars and different levels of driving experience. No matter where you are as a driver, StarFest®2018 will challenge you by meeting you at your skill level. This is educational - it is not a race for trophies.
Barber Proving Ground
StarFest®2018 provides instruction in both the classroom and on the track, giving you the opportunity to improve your driving skills and increase the enjoyment of driving your Mercedes-Benz.
For those who don't have track experience, don’t fret. You'll be able to push the limits to feel the real performance of your Mercedes-Benz, too. This is not competition. There are no timed laps. Embrace the thrill of feeling how a Mercedes is supposed to be driven, with a skilled instructor at your side.
Your instructor will be rating your technical skills. You will receive an "Urkunde" (certificate) for a beautiful grille badge similar to the Silverstar award stating that you are a member of the "Sportfahrer Verein" (Sport Drivers' Association).

Performance Driving Experience at Barber Motorsports Park
Have you ever thought about how much fun it would be to drive your Mercedes-Benz on a race course, but not at its maximum performance? Perhaps like you would want to drive your favorite twisty roads without fear of oncoming traffic, side roads, or police.
You like the idea of this, but you are hesitant to take the first step. We know there are many people like you, so we have developed a new program that we are calling "Performance Driving Experience".
You will have the same required didactic 2 classroom sessions that the novice and intermediate full Performance Driving students have. The difference is the on-track experience: you will still drive your car and have an instructor, but in one session you will ride with the instructor in his/her car or yours at US highway speeds (i.e. about 70 mph on the straight) with cornering limited to about 7/10ths of the cars’ capability. In the second track session, you drive and the instructor coaches you. This is quick enough to be fun but leaves a large safety margin without stressing the tires, brakes, or suspension.
The cost is only $100, and you don’t need a comprehensive technical inspection or even a helmet, as we are only going highway speeds.
A bit of advice:
1) Increase tire pressures at least 5psi over what M-B recommends.
2) This experience may be habit forming! In fact, most who participant in PDEX will want to participate in the next full performance driving school. Don’t worry we are already scheduling next years.
